I have been an educator since 1974 and have worked with children and adults with disabilities since the late 1960’s. My public school career lasted 31 years with 24 years as a special education resource teacher for middle school students (11 years) and high school students (13 years). I got additional endorsements in Secondary Family and Consumer Sciences and Vocational Family and Consumer Sciences to teach Early Childhood Professions, a career and technical education program, the last 7 years of my K – 12 career.
Since 2002 I have been an adjunct faculty member at Yavapai Community College in Prescott and Clarkdale, AZ. I teach a course in the Exceptional Learner every semester and have taught over a dozen other courses in the early childhood education and education program of the college.
I love teaching and working with teachers and future teachers. Good, caring teachers are my heroes, especially teachers who work with children who have challenges at any level and early childhood education teachers. They are truly change agents who can make a positive difference in the lives of children who might otherwise find themselves thrown away by society. I also love learning and I never fail to learn from my students every semester. We are all teachers and learners.
